Visit 1: The Egyptian Museum
Your first stop is the world-famous Egyptian Museum, home to the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities on Earth. Upon entering, you’ll instantly feel transported thousands of years back in time. With more than 160,000 artifacts, this museum tells the story of ancient Egypt from the earliest dynasties to the Greco-Roman era.
Walk with your guide through the grand halls filled with statues, sarcophagi, papyrus manuscripts, jewelry, royal treasures, and mummified remains. Highlights of your visit include:
Artifacts from the Old, Middle & New Kingdoms
Statues of Ramses II, Hatshepsut & Amenhotep III
Royal mummies & ancient medical tools
The golden treasures of King Tutankhamun including his iconic mask (if displayed)
Your guide will bring history to life with intriguing stories about pharaohs, gods, burial beliefs, and daily life in ancient Egypt. You will also have free time to explore on your own, take photos, or revisit sections that captivated you.
Approximate visit duration: 2–2.5 hours
Drive to the Citadel – Lunch Break (Optional)
After leaving the museum, enjoy a scenic drive toward the Mokattam Hills where the Citadel sits overlooking Cairo. You may stop for an optional lunch at a local restaurant serving traditional Egyptian cuisine — kofta, grilled chicken, koshary, molokhia, fresh bread, and salads. A delightful taste of Egypt that adds warmth to the experience.
You are free to choose between a local restaurant or an international option, depending on your preference.
Visit 2: The Citadel of Salah El-Din & Mohamed Ali Mosque
Next, explore the mighty Citadel of Salah El-Din, built in the 12th century as a defensive fortress to protect Cairo from Crusaders. The moment you step inside its gates, you’ll sense the power, strategy, and architectural brilliance behind this monumental structure.
At the heart of the Citadel sits the spectacular Mohamed Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque due to its gleaming white interior. Inspired by Ottoman architecture, it features:
A towering central dome surrounded by smaller domes
An impressive chandelier illuminating the prayer hall
A large open courtyard perfect for photos
Stunning panoramic views of Cairo from its terrace
Your guide will share the story of Mohamed Ali — the founder of modern Egypt — and highlight the architectural details that make this mosque a true masterpiece. Capture unforgettable pictures with the mosque behind you, and if visibility is clear, you might even see the pyramids from afar.
Approximate visit duration: 1.5–2 hours
Visit 3: Old Cairo (Religious Complex)
Your final stop is Old Cairo, one of the most sacred places in Egypt for Christians and a spiritual landmark for travelers of all beliefs. Walk through narrow desert-colored lanes that carry the echoes of ancient footsteps and faith. This area is believed to be where the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus) took refuge during their journey in Egypt.
Sites you will visit include:
The Hanging Church
One of the oldest churches in Egypt, built above the ruins of a Roman fortress. Admire its beautifully carved wooden ceiling resembling Noah’s Ark, ancient icons, marble pulpit, and artwork.
Church of St. Sergius & the Holy Crypt
Believed to be the place where the Holy Family lived for months during their flight. Step into the crypt — a sacred spot that touches hearts deeply.
Ben Ezra Synagogue
Rich in history and architectural beauty, believed to be the location where baby Moses was found in the basket according to tradition.
Optional Stop: Khan El Khalili Market
If time permits and you wish, you may stroll through the vibrant Khan El Khalili Bazaar — Cairo’s most famous market — where souvenirs, spices, perfumes, silver, brass, and handmade crafts fill every corner.
Approximate visit duration: 2 hours
